Q: What is your shooting style?
A: I consider myself a natural light documentary style photographer. I want to capture real life moments and genuine emotions. I am inspired by colors, light, movement and connection. If you’re feeling awkward, I promise to provide direction to create natural images that are not stiff and posed. Though I am happy to take photos of your family smiling at the camera, my focus will be more on your interaction.
Q: WHAT TYPES OF SESSIONS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?
A: My favorite types of sessions revolve around growing families (couples, maternity, newborn, children and families). While I have nearly 10 years of experience photographing weddings, I am no longer photographing weddings. However, I may still consider a small, intimate elopement style ceremony. I also enjoy collaborating with small businesses and non-profits to promote their services or products through photo storytelling and lifestyle photography.
Q: What equipment do you use?
A: I have a Sony A7 III mirrorless camera and I shoot mostly with prime lenses and my favorites are my 24-70 mm wide angle zoom lens and my 85 mm portrait lens. Though I prefer to shoot in natural light, I am also skilled in flash (I use the MagMod system) and I’m completely comfortable using it if the lighting situation requires it.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Check out my style guide here which gives you some tips on what to wear and how to plan for your session.
Q: What is the best time of day for my session?
A: Early morning and evening (about an hour or 2 before sunset) are when you typically have the best light for photos. And if the sun isn’t shining, cloudy days are awesome too!
Q: What is your turnaround time for photos?
A: You can expect to receive a link to your online gallery within 2-3 weeks of your session. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I’ll often post some favorites there a few days after your session.
Q: How many images can I expect to receive?
A: For a regular session, you can expect to receive anywhere from 30-50+ edited images in your online gallery. Mini sessions are limited to 30 images and last 20-30 minutes.
Q: Where do you recommend for prints?
A: If you are local to the Lancaster or Hershey area, I highly recommend Perfect Image Camera. For online ordering, I recommend mpix or for a more fine art look I recommend Artifact Uprising. Please do your images (and your photographer) a favor and have your photos printed at a professional lab, NOT your local pharmacy where quality is lacking and colors are inconsistent.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: When you book your session you will receive an electronic proposal and contract where you can pay via credit card at your convenience, however I also accept personal check and Zelle. A non-refundable 50% deposit retainer fee is required upon contract signing to book. Please note there is a 6% sales tax charge added to the session fee.
Q: Are you licensed and insured?
A: Yes, I have full business liability and equipment insurance.
Q: DO YOU TRAVEL?
A: Yes! I love to travel; however, I do charge an extra mileage fee for locations beyond 30 miles from Lancaster, PA.
